Annual inflation in Latvia was lower in July than the EU and Eurozone average / Day

Annual inflation in Latvia was 0.8% in July. Lower inflation than in our country last month was recorded only in Finland (0.5%).

On the other hand, the highest annual inflation was in Romania (5.8%), Belgium (5.4%), Hungary (4.1%), Poland (4%), as well as the Netherlands and Estonia (3.5%). Annual inflation in Lithuania was 1.1%.

In June, consumer prices increased year-on-year in all EU member states.

In the EU, the average annual inflation in July was 2.8%, while in the eurozone it was 2.6%.

On the other hand, compared to the previous month – June – consumer prices in July increased by 0.1% in the EU, but they remained unchanged in the eurozone.

In Latvia – as in Sweden – compared to June, consumer prices increased by 0.1% in July. Monthly inflation was registered in 18 EU member states, the highest was in the Netherlands and Denmark (+1.3% in both countries), while the highest monthly deflation was recorded in Italy (-0.9%). In Lithuania, consumer prices decreased by 0.1% on a monthly basis, while in Estonia – as in Ireland and France – they increased by 0.2%.

“Eurostat” inflation is calculated according to the EU harmonized index of consumer goods (HICP).
