Earlier, 31 expatriates were brought back to the country in three rounds of different flights.

The country’s government has pardoned 57 Bangladeshis who were punished for protesting in the United Arab Emirates in solidarity with the anti-discrimination student movement. Among them, 14 people came to the country last Saturday (September 7) in the first phase.

The President of the country, Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, pardoned 57 expatriate Bangladeshis who were sentenced on September 3. The notice sent from the Office of the Chief Adviser on that day said, “57 Bangladeshis who were previously convicted in the Federal Court of the United Arab Emirates have been pardoned by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They will be sent to Bangladesh soon.’

According to the report of the Gulf News of the United Arab Emirates, the Attorney General Chancellor Dr. Hamad Al Shamsi issued an order to stop the execution of the sentence and start the deportation process. The Attorney General called on all UAE residents to respect the country’s laws, stressing that the right to express opinions is protected by the state and its legal framework.

Note that any form of protest is illegal in the UAE. The country has always taken a strict stance against any kind of protest march there. The Bangladeshi protesters were charged with ‘inciting and assembling riots’.
