The Moscow government has allocated 130 million rubles for the installation of new fast charging stations, according to the official portal of the mayor and the government of Moscow. By the end of 2022, 50 new charging terminals will appear in the capital.

Now in Moscow there are 109 charging stations for electric vehicles, of which 42 comply with the new city standard, which provides for their integration into the Moscow Transport mobile application. With this app, drivers can plan a route to the nearest terminal, book a charging time and activate a charging session that lasts 20 minutes. In total, the city government plans to place 600 stations by 2023.

According to the analytical agency Avtostat, referred to by the mayor’s office, over the past six years, the number of electric vehicles registered in the capital has grown 8.5 times – from 235 at the end of 2015 to almost two thousand at the end of 2021. In Moscow, the transport tax on electric cars has been abolished, and their owners are allowed to park for free in paid street parking lots and charge their cars.

In November, it became known about the plans of the capital’s Deptrans to purchase 200 electric cars next year (170 – for the Traffic Organization Center, whose cars record parking violations, and 30 – for Mosgortrans).
