For the eighth time, Blue Origin, the space company of the founder of Amazon, sent people into space for a short trip. Six astronauts took part in the journey to the edge of space with the largely automated “New Shepard” rocket system. It lasted just over ten minutes in total.

During the flight, the capsule separated from the rocket, temporarily reached a height of more than 100 kilometers above the Earth and then landed again using a parachute. there was temporary weight loss in the capsule. Four men and two women were on board – including student Karsen Kitchen, who, according to Blue Origin, was the youngest woman ever to travel over the so-called Kármán Line at an altitude of 100 kilometers above the Earth. New Shepard’s last trip took place in May. Blue Origin keeps the prices of its space flights a secret, but similar offers cost the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of euros.

On the first flight in July 2021, Amazon founder Bezos himself was among those on board. The 90-year-old Canadian actor William Shatner, who became world famous for his role as Captain Kirk in Star Trek, took part in the second one in October 2021.
