In a key match for Barcelona’s future in the Libertadores, they welcomed Sao Paulo in a thrilling match on matchday 3.

Unfortunately, the bullfighting team stumbled again at home, losing 2-0 to Sao Paulo with goals from Jonathan Calleri (17′) and Alisson (64′).

Under the interim management of Germán Corengia, Barcelona came into this match with the obligation to get a victory. Despite the urgency of the points, the yellow team started off slowly, being outplayed by their rival who deservedly opened the scoring in the 17th minute.

Argentine Calleri made it 1-0 for Sao Paulo, who looked like the home team due to the way they started the match. Barcelona had a slight reaction in the final stretch of the first half, but it was not enough to at least go into the break with the score tied.

In the second half, BSC had a brilliant start with 3 clear chances in the first 10 minutes. However, when the home team was playing better, Sao Paulo scored its second goal through midfielder Alisson.

With a two-goal advantage, the team led by debutant Luis Zubeldía (DT) intelligently managed the result, taking 3 valuable points that place them in second place in Group B with 6 units.

If Barcelona loses in its visit to Talleres on matchday 4, it will have no chance of qualifying for the round of 16.
