South Korean studio Shift Up has announced plans to release a PC version of the popular game Stellar Blade in 2025. As Day.Az reports, this information, as Inven writes, was disclosed in the company’s latest financial report.
Stellar Blade has already gained popularity since its release on PlayStation consoles in April 2025. The developers are confident that the release on PC will be an additional incentive for sales growth, citing the successful example of Black Myth: Wukong and the increase in Steam’s share in the AAA games market.
According to the report, in the last quarter, royalties from Stellar Blade sales decreased by 12.7%, amounting to $16.1 million. However, Shift Up assesses this figure as positive and promises to continue releasing updates for the game.
At the same time, the mobile project Nikke: Goddess of Victory, which is the main source of income for the company, has encountered problems. It brought in $24.3 million for the quarter, down 10% from 2023 figures. The developers attribute this to an unsuccessful crossover with the anime “Evangelion”.
Stellar Blade is an action-adventure game developed by Shift Up and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Players control the main character Eva, who goes on a mission to save humanity from a brutal war with monsters in the distant future. Along the journey, Eve is joined by her squad and other survivors as they fight to reclaim the Earth.
- How are PlayStation exclusives affecting sales and player engagement on PC?
Interview: The Future of PlayStation Exclusives on PC
Time.news Editor: Welcome, everyone, to another edition of our in-depth interviews. I’m your host, [Editor Name], and today I’m thrilled to be joined by [Expert Name], a prominent game industry analyst and expert in platform strategy. We’ll be discussing the recent trend of PlayStation exclusives making their way to PC. Thank you for joining us, [Expert Name]!
[Expert Name]: Thank you for having me! It’s exciting to be here.
Editor: Let’s dive right in. We’ve seen a significant shift in Sony’s approach regarding exclusives. Why do you think PlayStation exclusives are increasingly being released on PC?
[Expert Name]: Great question! This shift can be attributed to several factors. Primarily, it’s about reaching a broader audience. By bringing exclusives to PC, Sony can tap into a vast and growing player base that may not own a PlayStation console. This move also helps increase overall revenue from games that were previously limited to the console market.
Editor: That makes a lot of sense. Some might argue that releasing exclusives on PC could undermine the value of owning a PlayStation console. What’s your take on that?
[Expert Name]: It’s a valid concern, but I believe Sony is balancing this well. While they are expanding their market, they are also distinguishing the console experience. Exclusive titles continue to offer robust features and experiences that are unique to PlayStation. Additionally, their subscription services may be designed to further entice players to choose their console over others.
Editor: I can see that perspective. Have there been any notable successes or challenges that you think highlight this trend?
[Expert Name]: Absolutely. Titles like “Horizon Zero Dawn” and “God of War” have seen great success on PC, quite a testament to the quality and popularity of these games. They were able to not only recoup development costs but also gain new audiences who might be more interested in future sequels or related franchises. However, challenges do exist, such as maintaining server stability and optimizing games for diverse hardware configurations that aren’t as prevalent in console gaming.
Editor: Optimizing for PC must be a significant undertaking! Speaking of the future, what do you think lies ahead for PlayStation titles on PC? Are there any specific games you think we could see making that jump soon?
[Expert Name]: I wouldn’t be surprised to see key titles from the PlayStation library making their way to PC over the next few years. Franchises like “The Last of Us” and “Spider-Man” are likely contenders, given their popularity and the critical acclaim they received. However, Sony will have to be strategic about timing to maintain excitement and exclusivity for their console users.
Editor: Interesting! Lastly, how do you think this trend impacts the relationship between gamers and the platforms they use?
[Expert Name]: It’s a fascinating dynamic. More inclusivity in gaming can lead to a healthier, more vibrant community. Gamers are becoming more platform-agnostic—prioritizing the games they want to play over the hardware they own. As a result, this could push all companies in the industry, including Sony, Microsoft, and others, to become more customer-focused, continually enhancing the user experience, regardless of platform.
Editor: Thank you, [Expert Name], for sharing these insights with us today. It’s clear that the landscape of gaming is evolving, and the move towards PC could shape the industry in ways we’re only beginning to understand.
[Expert Name]: Thank you for having me! It’s been a pleasure discussing this exciting topic.
