Law enforcement officers have established that the city woman in the Viber messenger called the so-called. “an employee of the security service of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus”, who said that a girl with a power of attorney in the name of the applicant came to one of the bank branches in Minsk and was trying to take out a loan in the name of the latter. In order for the “scammer” not to succeed and the money to remain safe, the “security officer” persuaded the Kamenchan woman to download the RustDesk mobile application (remote phone access application) to her phone and provide the access codes to it, which the girl obediently complied with.
Then, under various pretexts, the scammers convinced the girl to give her passport details, and then go to the bank and take out a loan in the amount of 6,000 rubles. It is unthinkable, but the applicant goes to the bank in the district center, and to the question of a bank employee – “And you definitely didn’t get a call from scammers and didn’t convince you to take a loan? Now there are a lot of such cases, ”the girl convinces that the money will go to the planned construction of the house and there is nothing to worry about.
After receiving the money, the girl receives a new task from the scammers: under the pretext of repaying the newly taken loan, credit the received cash to a safe account, which the girl does without even thinking that the scammers do not have data on the loan repayment account. Without realizing it, the applicant transfers credit funds in the amount of 6,000 rubles to the account of fraudsters, being completely convinced that she is repaying her loan (which she also convinces the law enforcement officers who came to her).
During a detailed interview and examination of the contents of the applicant’s phone, it became clear that the girl not only lost 6,000 rubles, but also, perhaps, the scammers issued an online loan in another bank in the name of the latter. Upon arrival at the indicated bank, all doubts were dispelled – the scammers indeed, through remote access, issued an online loan for the applicant for 3,000 rubles, which were immediately transferred to controlled accounts.
Total total damage amounted to 9,000 rubles. So far, the money has not been returned to the girl, of course. But received loans and interest on them.
