Meeting of the Hankyung National University Public Medical School Pan-provincial Promotion Committee

Anseong City (Mayor Kim Bo-ra) and the Hankyung National University Public Medical School Promotion Committee (Chairman Min Wan-jong) held a meeting on the 28th in the situation room on the 2nd floor of the city hall to discuss attracting Hankyung National University Public Medical School.

The Hankyung National University Public Medical School Promotion Committee (hereinafter referred to as the “Promotion Committee”) signed business agreements with 25 organizations, including the Yeonhwa Village Social Welfare Corporation, Anseong City Volunteer Center, Anseong City Cultural Center, and the Anseong City Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, to attract the public medical school.

In addition, I participated in the Gyeonggi Provincial Council discussion on strengthening the public medical system in Gyeonggi Province and the role of national universities, and the National Assembly discussion on the special law for establishing a public medical school at Hankyung National University, and held discussions with Anseong Police Station, Anseong Office of Education, etc. In particular, I conducted the first signature campaign for attracting a public medical school together with Anseong City and Hankyung National University, and received 31,511 signatures.

The meeting on that day encouraged the hard work of the promotion committee, collected opinions on a proposed ordinance that could support organizations that carry out pan-citizen movements like the promotion committee, and discussed future activity plans such as carrying out signature campaigns with Gyeonggi-do social groups and other cities and counties.

Chairman Min Wan-jong said, “I would like to thank the citizens who participated in the signature campaign, and I am glad that I could feel Anseong City’s strong will to attract Hankyung National University’s public medical school through today’s meeting. Our promotion committee will expand the signature campaign to attract a public medical school to Gyeonggi Province social organizations and other cities and counties to protect the lives and health of Gyeonggi Province residents, and we will do our best until the end.”

Mayor Kim Bo-ra said, “I would like to thank the committee members who visited various event venues and passionately conducted signature campaigns despite the recent scorching heat wave. Together with the promotion committee, we will actively review ordinances and budget support measures that can support the Anseong City regional development citizen movement. We will work together until the public medical school is established.”

Meanwhile, Jeon Jeong-sik, the general director of the promotion committee, said, “In order to enact a special law on the establishment of a public medical school at Hankyung National University, we will conduct a second signature campaign by October and a third signature campaign by December. We plan to deliver the collected signatures to the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Ministry of Education.”
