National Agency for Health Security Celebrates Eighth Anniversary
August 8, 2024 - The National Agency for Health Security (ANSS) celebrated its eighth anniversary on Wednesday, August 7th, under the theme “Eight years of resilience in the service of public health in Guinea.” The ceremony took place at the agency’s new headquarters in Kénien, Dixinn commune.
The ANSS, established in 2016 following the Ebola outbreak, has played a crucial role in preparing for and responding to epidemics and other public health emergencies. Dr. Sory Condé, Acting Director General of the ANSS, highlighted the agency’s achievements, including:
Establishment of epidemic response systems at national, regional, and decentralized levels.
Rapid response teams for epidemic alerts and response.
Training programs for field epidemiology, with 45% of Prefectural Health Directors and heads of disease prevention and control sections benefiting from the program.
Effective management of epidemics such as Ebola in 2021 and COVID-19.
The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Seydou Dia from the World Health Organization, who praised the ANSS’s role in emergency management systems. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene, Khaïté Sall, emphasized the need for adequate premises and logistics for the ANSS.
The event concluded with the presentation of a magazine and video showcasing the ANSS’s journey, along with the presentation of certificates and the cutting of a birthday cake.
