Antarctica, the first impressive aerial images of the gigantic iceberg A81 – Corriere TV

The British Antarctic Survey has published the first aerial images of the great iceberg A81 which broke away from the Brunt Ice Shelf in Antarctica on 22 January. The huge iceberg, which stretches well 1,550 square kilometerstraveled 150 kilometers .

The images were taken by the researchers who left the Halley research station at the end of the summer campaign. A big crack in January gave rise to the iceberg A81. After breaking up, the iceberg turned over and was now moving south. A81 is the second major iceberg to break off in the region in the past two years. The first was iceberg A76of 3,200 square kilometers, which was formed in May 2021
