Anthropic PBC has posted preliminary revenue of more than $11.5 billion for the second quarter of 2026, marking a dramatic surge as the AI company prepares for an initial public offering as soon as this fall.
Second-Quarter Revenue Surge and Operating Income
The developer of the Claude chatbot reported preliminary revenue exceeding $11.5 billion for its latest completed quarter, according to financial documents viewed by Bloomberg News. That figure marks a massive jump from $787 million in the same period last year and $4.73 billion in the first quarter of 2026. In addition to the top-line acceleration, Anthropic posted positive adjusted operating income for the second quarter. The financial figures remain preliminary and could still change, as the outlet reported.
The rapid expansion highlights the commercial traction Anthropic has gained against competitors like OpenAI. Business customers and professionals have increasingly adopted its software for complex tasks, particularly coding. That corporate adoption has driven a compounding scale in the company’s financial metrics over a remarkably short window.
Annualized Run Rate Reaches $65 Billion
Beyond quarterly receipts, Anthropic’s annualized run rate has climbed significantly. The company is on track to generate annualized revenue of more than $65 billion based on its current performance, according to people familiar with the matter. That run rate metric, which projects full-year revenue from a shorter operating window, hit $65 billion by the end of July, according to the company’s regular update with investors.
This performance represents a sevenfold increase from the pace recorded at the end of last year. Anthropic’s revenue run rate topped $9 billion in late 2025 before crossing $47 billion in May. By comparison, rival OpenAI’s revenue run rate recently exceeded $40 billion, though the two firms may calculate the metric using different methodologies.
High-Level Investor Meetings Ahead of a Fall IPO
The financial momentum underpins Anthropic’s preparations for a public market debut. Anthropic and OpenAI have both filed confidential paperwork to go public, with Anthropic expected to make its Wall Street debut as soon as this fall, ahead of OpenAI. Early meetings with prospective investors have remained high-level, focusing on corporate strategy rather than specific financials or a company valuation. CFO Krishna Rao is leading those introductory discussions.
Tapping public markets could unlock access to billions of dollars in additional capital. That financial runway is viewed as essential for funding escalating compute infrastructure costs, securing advanced hardware, and constructing specialized data centers.
