BOLZANO. There is also a South Tyrolean among them 38 persons recipients of precautionary custody – 27 in prison and 11 under house arrest – signed by Gip of Trento, at the request of the local DDA, at the end of a vast investigation conducted by the financiers of the Trento Provincial Command. The operation also led to seizures for a total of 10 million. The military also recovered and seized 49 kilos of hashish, 20 of cocaine and five of heroin.

The precautionary measures were carried out by the soldiers of the Fiamme Gialle – a hundred in total – of the Trentino capital in collaboration with colleagues from the “Central Investigation Service on Organized Crime”, from the territorial departments of the Corps on the national territory and from the Bolzano Air Section .

The man, of Tunisian origin, lives in Bassa Atesina, on the border with Trentino, and a precautionary custody order has been issued against him in prison: he must answer for the crimes of criminal association and drug dealing. The precautionary measures were carried out in the provinces of Trento, Turin, Milan, Bergamo, Brescia, Bolzano, Verona, Pavia, Cremona and Livorno, at the end of a detailed and complex investigation, started in December 2021 and conducted by the Gico of the Police Unit economic-financial of the Guardia di Finanza of Trento.

Of the 38 subjects recipients of the measures, 36 of foreign nationality (Albanians, Tunisians, Moroccans and Portuguese) and held responsible in various capacities for having participated or collaborated within two complex criminal associations which, interconnected with each other, were specialized in the trafficking of narcotic substances (cocaine, hashish, marijuana and heroin), coming from other Italian regions and destined almost entirely to Trentino.

The investigations originated from previous investigations and constant monitoring of the area. It thus emerged that some of the previous suspects continued to date. Among the material seized, in addition to 49 kilos of hashish, 20 of cocaine and over 5 of heroin, also cutting substances for around 12 kilosand’firearm, cash for over 111 thousand euros and various material for drug packaging. From one kilo of cocaine, three could be obtained by cutting it, for an estimated profit of more 10 million euros. The doses were hidden along the banks of rivers or inside a public park and from there they were taken when they were sold to final consumers.

In other cases, it emerged that the suspects used cars without insurance coverage and left in public car parks, near the historic center of the Trentino capital, as “temporary warehouses” for storing the narcotic, awaiting the next sale.

The drugs were usually sold in Trento and Rovereto, near or inside public parks and gardens: the network of customers was dense and among them many young people. The investigations were also carried out on the economic-patrimonial front. In fact, a significant availability of cash emerged, revealed by the numerous immediate payments upon delivery of the purchased drugs, as well as by the seizures of significant quantities of money. For some, the income from drug dealing represented a sort of additional income to work, for others – the majority – the income from drug trafficking represented the only source of wealth.
