An actress who was arrested and jailed for supporting the ongoing anti-hijab protest in Iran has now been released.
A 22-year-old woman named Massa Amni was arrested on September 13 last year in Tehran, the capital of Iran, for not wearing a proper hijab. Later, the woman was brutally assaulted by the Special Forces police officers and tragically died. The fact that the police buried his body without handing it over to his parents drew a lot of criticism. After this incident caused great shocks across the country, the Iranian government ordered the removal of the Hijab Clothing Monitoring Special Police Force, which was responsible for the woman’s death, while the people were holding a series of protests demanding justice for the deceased woman.
Meanwhile, Tarane Ali Dosti, an Iranian actress who voiced her support for the anti-hijab protest during the ongoing protests, was arrested last month. In this case, the Iranian government released him from prison. It is noteworthy that actress Tarane Ali Dosti won the Oscar award for the film “The Salesman” released in 2016.
