Kochi: It has been decided to surround the House under the leadership of the anti-K-rail protest committee during the next assembly session. The new move came when Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan declared in the assembly that he would not back down from the project. A petition will be submitted to the central and state governments by collecting one crore signatures against the project.

Last day, the Chief Minister had stated in the House that the K-Rail project would be implemented if the central government’s approval was received. This prompted the strike committee to intensify the strike.

The decision to encircle the assembly was taken at a meeting in Kochi attended by workers of the strike committee from 11 districts. It has been decided to protest by surrounding the assembly during the next assembly session. Before this, it was decided to collect the signatures of more than one crore people and send a petition to the Chief Minister and the Union Railway Minister
