(ANSA) – ROME, 11 SEPTEMBER – The Competition and Market Authority has launched a fact-finding investigation into the school publishing markets in Italy, which also includes publications and aids intended for students and teachers in primary and lower and upper secondary schools. The Antitrust Authority underlines that this is a market worth approximately 1 billion, involving 7 million students and their families and 1 million teachers. A public consultation open to all interested parties has also been launched. The investigation, it explains, “aims to delve into the competitive dynamics of the markets involved and a series of critical issues that are the subject of recurring public consideration, such as price trends, frequent changes to editions, difficulties in supply and distribution methods, possible rigidities in the methods of school adoption, also considering technological innovations in the sector, especially with regard to the combination of paper-digital formats and the circulation of property rights of digital editions”.
