Antoni Vila Casas has received the title of Adoptive Son of Palafrugell (Baix Empordà) this Saturday at noon at the Can Mario Museum in the municipality. The recognition was unanimously approved at the December plenary session due to its link with the town of Baixemporda through the opening of this museum. The event was attended by the Councilor for Culture of the Palafrugell City Council, Josep Piferrer; from the FVC’s Presidential Art Advisor, Natàlia Chocarro; from the president of the FVC, Antoni Vila Casas and; from the mayor of Palafrugell, Joan Vigas.

The equipment houses around 220 sculptures that date from the sixties to the present day and that belong to several artists born or resident in Catalonia.

According to municipal sources, the fact that, in addition, temporary exhibitions are organized every year, and the participation of Vila Casas in “the cultural and social life” of the municipality have made it become the second Adoptive Son of the town after the artist Modest Cuixart.
