News from Angola – Around fifteen companies participated, this past week, in Luanda, in the presentation session at António Agostinho Neto International Airport.
Organized specifically for investors in the sector, this event, held virtually, also served to inform potential interested parties of the terms of reference of the competition for its management, which the Government intends to launch after its inauguration.

According to a note that NA had access to today, the concession for the management of António Agostinho Neto International Airport will be for a period of 25 years, extendable for another 15.
The note also states that the eligibility criteria for interested companies, whether individually or in a consortium, include financial capacity (which must exceed 150 million dollars) and management for a minimum period of three years of at least one airport with a minimum capacity for 10 million passengers per year.
When presiding over the session, the Minister of Transport, Ricardo Viegas De Abreu, was satisfied with the result obtained.
“During this meeting I had the opportunity to share with a considerable number of airport operators around the world the opportunities related to the management of their infrastructure, but also the services that will be made available and the aeronautical activities that will be implemented there”, he highlighted.
The Minister of Economy and Planning, Mário Caetano João, reinforced investors’ confidence with the presentation of the legal framework in force in Angola, the business environment and recent measures aimed at simplifying foreign investment in the country, namely the visa exemption.
The registered companies, some of the most relevant in the field of airport infrastructure management, come from Europe, the United States, China and Latin America. Meanwhile, more than 130 professionals from the civil aviation and investment banking sector participated in this session, from more than two dozen countries.
With an opening date scheduled for the 10th of November, the new Luanda international airport is being built on land with a total area of seventy-five square kilometers, and was designed to accommodate critical category F aircraft (Airbus – A380 ). With a capacity to receive 15,000,000 passengers per year, it will handle a cargo volume of 130 thousand tons per year, initially and 440 thousand tons per year, later.
