Antonio Goncalves is the new Minister of Energy and Mines – La Nación

The Ministry of Energy and Mines already has its titular authority. Through Executive Decree 320, President Daniel Noboa appointed Octavian Antonio Goncalves Savinovich at the head of that State portfolio.

Since April 16th he was in charge Roberto Luquewho has been in charge of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP) since the beginning of the Noboa Government. It was he who on June 27 already announced “major announcements in the energy sector.”

This Tuesday, Luque introduced the new authority on his social networks.

“As announced, there have been developments in the energy sector this week. I am pleased to introduce the new Minister of Energy and Mines: Antonio Goncalves,” said Roberto Luque.

Who is Antonio Goncalves?

The profile shared by the Ministry of Energy review that he is originally from Guayaquil, while professionally he is a “experienced manager with a proven track record of work in the finance industry y international development«. Antonio Goncalves is an expert in leading large teams, developing client relationships, managing new operations, and implementing projects.

His last position was as representative of Ecuador in it Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Suriname. There he headed the IDB’s field office, including the Bank’s relationship with the government and its clients.

Previously, it was Director of Operations of the IDB, in Panama for five years, and Head of the IDB Financial Services Unit in the United States between 2011 and 2015.

He is an economist, holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and has received numerous certifications and awards since graduating from the Catholic University of Guayaquil in 1985.
