In a duel between Portuguese coaches, António Oliveira’s Corinthians avoided defeat this Sunday against Abel Ferreira’s Palmeiras, in the 9th round of the Campeonato Paulista, with a goal from Argentine Rodrigo Garro, at 90’+10.

Verdão, current two-time champion of the Brasileirão, even scored first, with the prodigy Endrick opening the scoring in the 44th minute, becoming the youngest ever to score in the São Paulo derby. At the start of the second half, Marcos Rocha, who had assisted the young striker at 1-0, saw his goal disallowed in the 49th minute. After a triple change at Corinthians, Palmeiras increased their lead in the 68th minute.

Abel Ferreira changed some pieces of the puzzle and saw Palmeiras lose strength and, in the final moments, it was Corinthians who took advantage. First, Yuri Alberto, at 87′, reduced for Timão, and then Rodrigo Garro fixed the final result. Still in stoppage time, before the 2-2 final, Cássio saw straight red and left Corinthians with just 10, but the numerical inferiority did not prevent António Oliveira’s team from going after the result.

With this draw, Palmeiras is 2nd, with 18 points, while Corinthians is 11th, with 10. Palmeiras remains, however, the only team without any defeat in Paulistão.
