António Pacheco spent the last few days fighting for his life, after the cardiac arrest he suffered last Tuesday, which forced him to be hospitalized and ventilated. But, according to what was possible to ascertain, the situation of the former Benfica and Sporting player has worsened significantly in the last few hours and he has already been declared brain dead. The former player suffered a cardiac arrest last Tuesday while spending time with friends and was under close surveillance at Faro Hospital.

In any case, given the condition of brain death, it was decided that he would be transported back to the hospital unit in Portimão, close to his area of residence, where he would remain in palliative care, allowing his family to say goodbye.
Meanwhile, Matilde Pacheco, daughter of António Pacheco, took to social media to thank the “messages of comfort” that the family has received at this difficult time. “My father António Pacheco is in a very serious situation and in an irreversible state, but he is still alive. I appreciate the messages of comfort, but now what my family really needs is peace of mind. When and if there is a death to be announced, it will be done by us”, can be read in the post made on Facebook.
