Officialized at Artur Jorge’s departure to BotafogoAntónio Salvador announced this Wednesday that Rui Duarte will take the helm of the Sp. Braga team until the end of the season – as Record had said – adding that Daniel Sousa has already signed with the Minho team to be the new coach of Sp. Braga “from 2024/25 and for the following two seasons”. “Given the important objectives that the season still holds for us, I confess that I did not expect the coach to call into question the command and example he has always exercised before the group. In a context of this nature, more important than financial compensation are stability and competitiveness of the team and it was with the team in mind that we made the decisions: in the last few days we reflected on the desired profile for the Sp. Braga project and identified the coach who could embody it. We tried our best to make him take charge of the group right away , which was not possible. Still, I want to inform the members that from 2024/25 and for the following two seasons, our coach will be Daniel Sousa. I make this public announcement”, he stated. And he continued: “Without further comments, the information about the contract we signed last night, out of respect for truth and information, which I understand is owed to the members and fans of my club. Until the end of the season, Sp. Braga will be guided by coach Rui Duarte. We have very competent professionals at home and the past confirms this. Rui Duarte had a very worthy campaign in the under-23s, and the level in the Youth League made the club and Portuguese football proud. He will have all our support in these final rounds, as well as the support of a serious and responsible group, focused on achieving the best position ever in a championship”.
Rui Duarte, it should be noted, joins the main team accompanied by assistants Pedro Costa, Rúben Teles, Rafael Pessoa and Frederico Carmo. Eduardo Carvalho and Orlando Silva, who were already part of Artur Jorge’s technical team, continue working with the main squad.
