Anushree, a native of Pinarayi, Kannur, was elected president by the state convention held in Elamkulam, the birthplace of EMS. Sindhujoy was re-elected state president in 2007 at the Perinthalmanna assembly. Anushree says that Pinarayi village itself has had a lot of influence.
