According to the National Urban Security Survey conducted by the Inegi, the inhabitants of the mayor’s office of Álvaro Obregón feel safer as a result of the Blindar strategy, its head, Lia Lemon, said.
He noted that according to the survey, during the first quarter of 2024, the perception of insecurity was 65.5 percent. However, for the months of April, May, and June, the perception dropped to 55 percent, an improvement of 10.5 percentage points.
The mayor acknowledged that the problem of insecurity remains one of the main challenges facing the city, and emphasized that it is an area where “you can’t let go for a single moment.”
He also recalled that during his administration, Álvaro Obregón experienced the highest level of insecurity in the entire capital, with a perception of 75.8 percent. He claimed that during his time in office, there was a significant improvement, with a reduction of more than 20 percentage points in the level of security.
“I invested twice as much in security as the Morena government did, with that we increased the number of patrols by more than 50 percent, tripled the number of police officers that existed and quadrupled the number of cameras,” he said.
Limón also pointed to a 25 percent reduction in high-impact crimes and a reduction in the perception of insecurity.
