AOC has teamed up with Porsche Design on a 32-inch mini LED monitor

Tools that have no connection with Force Design are an ugly recording path, but it’s hard to take advantage of their latest collaboration. This high-end Agon Pro PD32M gaming monitor has partnered with AOC (a subsidiary, not a US representative) to make the Porsche-fy, which is now available for pre-order and shipping in June for $1,799. In addition to the 32-inch unframed panel, the Mini LED backlight features excellent contrast and light control, while its simple-looking, durable aluminum mount mirrors the style of Porsche’s steering wheels.

After seeing what a Porsche steering wheel would look like, I wasn’t entirely sold on this. However, it sure does make the gaming screen look slicker than most – at least from the front. Its back is covered in glowing RGB LED panels. No matter how silly headphone hooks on either side are, this is a feature I want every monitor to have. I always look for a place to put my headphones and headphones.

Work in the front, party in the back.

Aesthetics aside, this monitor’s $1,799 price tag seems reasonable for the features it offers. In addition to the mini LED backlight, it features a 4K 16:9 aspect ratio with a 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, DisplayHDR 1400 support and 97% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. The specification table lists it as supporting “Adaptive Sync,” but it’s not clear if it’s AMD’s FreeSync or Nvidia’s G-Sync.

The back has two HDMI ports, at least one of which supports HDMI 2.1 up to 120Hz at 4K resolution, along with a DisplayPort jack, four USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a headphone jack, and a USB-C port (this site claims it supports DisplayPort video and 65W Pastro Power). It adds two additional features such as two 8-watt speakers and a wireless controller.

If you want a 4K Mini LED display with HDMI 2.1 support for PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5, $1,799 doesn’t seem like a bad price for this thing — especially the Porsche design that came with the product. But screens that look brighter and better sometimes don’t change that way. Apple’s Studio Display for $1,699 and $5,000 is an example. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 with LED lights looked amazing and was less than a star in our review, so wait for the reviews before ordering it.
