Thus, the first beneficiaries meeting the criteria required to benefit from the first tranche of direct social assistance at the provincial level flocked to the points responsible for distributing this aid, which is being implemented in execution of the High Royal Directives aimed at establishing a solid system ensuring social protection for large sections of citizens.
In a statement to MAP, Fatima Semlali, from the Social Protection department in the province of Aousserd, stressed that a total of 112 families, or 433 people, meeting the eligibility threshold required by the Unified Social Register (RSU) benefited from the first tranche of direct social assistance which is taking place in good conditions.
In this regard, Ms. Semlali indicated that a provincial monitoring commission has been set up with the aim of registering citizens for the RSU, noting that this commission ensures the logistical means and technical and legal expertise, in addition to supporting citizens wishing to benefit from direct social assistance.
For their part, several beneficiaries of this initiative highlighted the high concern with which HM King Mohammed VI continues to surround them, in order to guarantee them and their family members a dignified income, expressing their satisfaction with the reception at the level of the administrative services of the province.
The direct social assistance scheme, which intervenes in application of the High Royal Guidelines contained in the speech of HM King Mohammed VI addressed to Parliament on the occasion of the opening of the 1st session of the 3rd legislative year of the 11th Legislature, is a national program which aims to improve the living conditions of families with children of school age or in vulnerable situations, and who do not currently benefit from any family compensation in accordance with the legislative and regulatory texts in force, in order to support their purchasing power.
This scheme targets families who do not receive family allowances, in particular those with children under 21, as well as families without children or with children over 21 who are in a vulnerable situation.
Mobilizing an annual budget that will increase from 25 billion dirhams (MMDH) in 2024 to 29 MMDH in 2026, this program will contribute, in particular, to the implementation of the “income of dignity for the elderly”, “family allowances for all households” and “lifelong support for people with disabilities”.
In order to target beneficiary families, the Unified Social Registry (RSU) is adopted as a mechanism for assessing the standard of living of families, instead of taking into account family income.
The granting of monthly aid remains linked, essentially, to registration in the RSU which makes it possible to effectively identify poor and vulnerable families in all regions of the Kingdom, whether in urban, rural or mountainous areas.
