Moscow: Nine people were killed in an accident in which a five-story apartment building partially collapsed on the Russian island of Sakhalin, Sakhalin Governor Valery Limerenko said. A search is on for a missing person amid the rubble.
Russian news agencies attributed the collapse to a cooking gas cylinder explosion. A 20-liter cooking gas cylinder exploded, the Tass news agency reported, citing emergency services.
Russian authorities said they are investigating the cause of the disaster.
