Lands Minister Narayan Chandra Chand has emphasized on ensuring optimal utilization of land and people-friendly services related to land while formulating the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) action plan for the financial year 2024-2025.
He said this at the opening ceremony of a workshop organized for the preparation of the draft APA of the Ministry of Lands and its departments/organizations for the fiscal year 2024-25 at the meeting room of the Ministry of Lands of the Secretariat on Monday (April 22).
At that time Chairman of Land Appeal Board AKM Shamimul Haque Siddiqui, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Land (Secretary on duty) Md. Abbas Uddin and Additional Secretary (Development) Ziauddin Ahmed NDC along with the officials of Ministry of Lands and departments/organizations under its purview were present.
The land minister said that people’s involvement in land management is very high and direct. Most rural disputes and litigation are related to land ownership. Therefore, the government is working towards providing more efficient land related services to the people through efficient, modern, public welfare oriented and sustainable land management. APA’s role is important in bringing good governance to this process.
At the workshop, the Lands Minister emphasized the important role of Annual Performance Agreement (APA) in enhancing transparency and accountability in government departments.
In his speech, the Minister of Lands highlighted the importance of APA in increasing productive mindset, institutional transparency, accountability, proper utilization of resources and organizational efficiency in government institutions.
He highlighted the need for effective implementation of the objectives of the Ministry of Lands in civil service with a view to creating seamless coordination between the Ministry and the field offices.
Narayan Chandra Chand emphasized that the APA launched by the government in 2014-15 has played an instrumental role in bringing the activities of ministries and agencies from process-oriented to result-oriented activities. At this time, the Minister directed the Ministry of Lands and the departments/organizations under its purview to formulate their strategic objectives and activities for the next fiscal year in line with the overall vision and mission of the Ministry of Lands.
