“From the APDH we are demanding the immediate release and prosecution of the lawyer Alberto Nallar,” said the head of the agency this morning in dialogue with Télam Radio.
For Torremare, the State of Jujuy is “managed in an absolutely authoritarian and illegal manner” and “is subjecting” Alberto Nallar to a “totally unfair” situation.
“Nallar has not committed any crime, the accusation made against him for the crime of sedition is simply absurd,” he explained about the situation of the lawyer from Jujuy who was sentenced to house arrest for 20 days after being arrested last Thursday.
In this sense, it considered that the “judicial persecution” of the human rights defense lawyer has two purposes: “one, to punish him for being the legal defender of those who are claiming and second, and this is no less, to intimidate all those who raise a voice dissident against the Jujuy government”.
On the other hand, Torremare said that from the APDH they presented a preventive habeas corpus “in favor of all lawyers who defend human rights” in the province of Jujuy.
He added that human rights in the province “today are totally violated by the repressive policies of the government” of Morales.
He stated that the body he presides over is “waiting for the judicial resolution of that habeas corpus” presented and insisted that the Jujuy Judiciary “is not independent of the Government as it should be.”
“This does not make us optimistic, but we will continue to raise the issue in all possible ways,” concluded Guillermo Torremare, co-president of the Permanent Assembly for Human Rights.
The request for the immediate release of the lawyer Nallar by the APDH and the claim for all the detainees in Jujuy were added to several presentations already made with the same objective by groups of Jujuy lawyers, human rights defense organizations, the Multisectorial Jujuy, social organizations and Amnesty International, among others.
