Application for suspension of execution in response to Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism suspension… The first and second trials were also dismissed.
Lee Ki-heung, the current president of the Korea Sports Council, who applied for a suspension of execution from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, announced that he would re-appeal the decision to dismiss the appeal.
After the appeal was dismissed on the 10th, Chairman Lee Ki-heung, who is running for the 42nd Korea Sports Council election and running for a third term, said, “After the election is over, I will reveal the substantive truth through the lawsuit already filed in the administrative court.”
According to the legal community on this day, the 3rd Administrative Division of the Seoul High Court (Chief Judge Jeong Joon-young) dismissed Chairman Lee’s appeal for suspension of execution in a lawsuit filed against the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to cancel the notice of suspension.
Previously, the Government Joint Public Service Inspection Team of the Office for Government Policy Coordination conducted an inspection on November 10 last year to determine whether there were any irregularities in the sports association, and as a result, eight people, including Chairman Lee, were found to be guilty of fraudulent hiring of employees (obstruction of work), requesting donations of goods (receiving money, etc.), and using sponsorship items for personal purposes ( An investigation was requested to the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency on charges of embezzlement (embezzlement) and waste of the sports association budget (breach of trust).
The next day, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, “In accordance with the ‘Act on the Management of Public Institutions,’ we requested an investigative agency to investigate the alleged misconduct and requested a prompt investigation and suspended Chairman Lee from his duties.”
Chairman Lee’s side filed an administrative lawsuit and also applied for a suspension of execution, requesting that the effect of the suspension be temporarily suspended.
When the application for suspension of execution was rejected in the first trial on the 13th of last month, Chairman Lee filed an appeal. However, the court’s decision did not change.
Chairman Lee interpreted it as “the court reserved its judgment because it believed it was inappropriate to take the side of either the government or the candidates right before the election of the sports president.”
The 42nd Sports Council President election will be held on the afternoon of the 14th if the application to suspend the election filed by candidate Kang Shin-wook and some delegates is not approved.
Chairman Lee emphasized, “Regardless of the dismissal of this appeal, we will do our best for the election to be held on the 14th.”
