Apple will stop replacing glass on broken iPhones and Apple Watches under warranty. This was reported by the WCCFTech portal with reference to a document addressed to authorized retailers and service centers, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
The document states that the standard warranty no longer covers microcracks on the screens of devices. Previously, Apple replaced the glass on gadgets with small cracks on the screen free of charge in the absence of other damage to the case. However, according to the updated policy, such defects are now classified as accidental damage, which excludes them from warranty repairs.
As a result, iPhone and Apple Watch owners are now forced to pay for repairs themselves if the device is not covered by the AppleCare+ extended warranty.
For now, the innovation only applies to the company’s specified gadgets, but it is possible that in the future similar restrictions may be applied to other categories, such as iPad and Mac, although at the moment they remain within the standard warranty for such defects.
