Apple has published a new support document that provides additional details about the always-on screen, and clarifies the cases in which the screen turns off and does not stay on, MacRammers said.

The new always-on display is available on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max that Apple announced at this fall’s event.

Apple mentioned 8 cases and scenarios in which the always-on screen turns off temporarily, and to save battery, Apple said that the screen becomes completely turned off in the following cases:

– When the phone is upside down and the screen is facing down.

When the phone is in a pocket or bag.

When the sleep focus feature is enabled.

– When the phone is on low battery mode.

– When the phone is connected to CarPlay.

– When using the camera continue.

– When time passes without using the phone.

When the phone detects that the user is moving away from it while it is paired with the Apple Watch.

Apple said that the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max can learn the user’s “activity patterns” and thus turn the always-on screen off and on accordingly. For example, Apple said that the screen can work in coordination with the user’s alarm or sleep schedule if he has a schedule saved on the phone.

The always-on screen mode is activated automatically, and to turn it off, you must open the settings, click on the screen and brightness menu, and disable the always-on screen.

The refresh rate of iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max screens can be reduced to 1 Hz, to ensure that the always-on display does not consume a lot of battery power.
