As every year, this year Apple also selected the most prominent apps and games, according to the company’s people, from all the huge offerings in the App Store for 2022. The selection refers to all the different platforms offered by the company, and a total of 16 apps and games were selected.

BeReal, the photo sharing app that asks users once a day to stop everything, take a quick picture of themselves and their surroundings and send it to all their friends, was selected as the iPhone app of the year. For the iPad, the store staff chose GoodNotes 5, which is also available for computers and phones, which is an advanced note-taking application that allows you to access notes from anywhere, and for Apple TV, ViX was chosen.

Apple people also chose five games, but the watch category was replaced by a somewhat strange category – the game of the year in China, which is League of Legends eSports Manager. The real game of the year is probably the one for the iPhone and it’s Apex Legends Mobile, the battle royale game from Electronic Arts.

Other games that won are Moncage for the iPad, for the Macintosh environment Inscryption, and for Apple TV the choice was El Hijo. As the arcade game of the year was chosen Wylde Flowers which is a farm game with motifs of wizards and magic. It is available for all platforms.

Apple people have also chosen five apps that they define as having a social impact, and all five are available for some of the company’s platforms, and all for the iPhone. For example, Dot’s Home is a story-driven adventure game in which a black girl travels through time to learn about her family’s history which of course crosses important events in the black struggle for equality in the United States.

Another application selected in this category is Waterllama which allows you to choose and place smart widgets, including on the company’s watch, to remember to drink enough water during the day. Locket Widget allows you to see real-time photos of friends on the lock screen, as soon as you want to unlock the device. Also selected were How We Feel, for iPhone only, which aims to help people better understand their feelings, and Inua – A Story in Ice and Time, which is a Canadian game that also allows a kind of time travel to influence important points in the country’s history.
