The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has announced that Apple has filed a patent for a new AirPods feature that allows you to unlock your iPhone. This was reported by Patently Apple.
It is clarified that the new technology is called the “Headphone User Identification System”. In theory, the AirPods headset can remember the features of the ear of the user of the gadget. Going forward, headphones will use an impulse response that is unique to each pinna.
The system will block access to the device if the user puts another person’s headphones in their ear. Soon the system will be tested, according to the results of which a further decision will be made. If it proves to be reliable, then it will be implemented to unlock phones.
Among other things, this innovation can replace the biometric or fingerprint sensor on the iPhone, or the two systems will work together.
