Apple has released an Android app that will find out if you are being followed with the AirTags tags

by time news

Apple presents itself as a company that is sensitive to privacy issues, but with the launch of its tracking tags, AirTags, has created its own privacy crisis: since these tags are not detectable via Android devices, such a tag could be “buried” in the environment of an iPhone-free user. Then follow him without his knowledge – while broadcasting his exact location at any moment.

The company is now introducing a solution to this problem in the form of an app called Tracker Detect, now available for download for Android devices. The app allows you to scan and locate AirTags tags that are in the user’s environment. If the tag looks suspicious, it can be made to make a sound to locate it, or even disable it temporarily.

It is important to emphasize that the app is not intended for normal use and tracking of AirTags tags, so the product remains exclusive to iPhone users only. This is an application intended only for cases where there is indeed a suspicion of surveillance without permission, using Apple tags. The app also does not scan its environment automatically, and each time a manual run of the scan is required to locate nearby tags.

The app is now available for free download through the PlayStore Store. In what has almost become a tradition, the app receives a very cool welcome from Android users who have so far given it a score of only two stars – like most of the official apps that Apple has launched for the competing operating system.
