With the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, Apple already has a pretty impressive tablet on offer. Now the company should work on even bigger alternatives.
Like the economy news site Bloomberg reports that the designers in the development laboratories in Cupertino are thinking about a completely new generation of the successful tablet. Screen sizes of 14 to 16 inches would be dimensions that have their charm. At least that’s what author Marc Gurman assumes, who himself seems to be a fan of the large 12.9 iPad.
New impulses needed
Which is true in any case: The iPad family needs new impulses by 2022 at the latest, in order not to simply present more and more performance in a familiar design. So that we don’t get ourselves wrong: The current iPad Pro, with the powerful M1 chip, is by far the best tablet on the market and will remain so for a long time to come.
Still, the market segment is at a crossroads. The stationary desktop PC has been completely replaced by mobile computers in many places over the past five years, and hybrid solutions with removable displays are also becoming increasingly important. The fact that the upcoming Windows 11 will also have a strong focus on the tablet option is fueling this development.
So it stands to reason that Apple is considering how the iPad will continue to play a role in this development. It remains to be seen whether larger screens will be central to this. However, the software should also be designed in such a way that it makes no difference whether you work on a stationary computer or a tablet. Because the market leader still has to work on that.
