Apple will launch another year of virtual reality (VR) and augmented (AR) glasses, which work independently, without any need to connect to another of its devices, analyst Ming-Chi Ko claims in a letter to investors that reached MacRumors.

According to Kav, who predicted almost every move of the company in the last decade, Apple’s virtual reality helmet will include two of its own processors – one similar to the powerful M1 processor integrated in MacBook last year, and one, weaker, designed solely to concentrate input from the device’s various sensors . Both processors will allow Apple’s glasses to work as a standalone device, contrary to previous hypotheses that the glasses will serve as a kind of external screen for the company’s iPhone or Mac devices. Today, most virtual reality glasses on the market require a connection to a computer or phone, with the exception of a few individual models like Facebook’s Oculus Quest.

In addition to the two processors and the ability to work independently, Kav estimates that Apple’s glasses will include a pair of Sony’s Micro OLED screens in 4K definition, so that they will provide unprecedented image quality in the field.

The glasses will be launched according to a line estimate in the fourth quarter of 2022 – another year or so. Their price is not yet known, along with other details like the design, but an earlier report unrelated to the line suggested that the design would be similar to helmets from Meta’s Oculus (formerly Facebook), and that the price would be $ 3,000.
