Apple is poised to shake up its computer lineup with the introduction of the chip M4expected on all Macs by next year. According to a recent report by Mark Gurman According to Bloomberg, the Cupertino company has planned a complete refresh of its range, with releases staggered between 2024 and 2025.

Surprisingly, the M4 chip made its debut not in a Mac, but on theiPad Pro earlier this year. After a summer without any new Mac launches, Apple is set to introduce the first Macs with the M4 chip this fall. Once they’re available, the company will accelerate the refresh of its entire lineup with its most advanced chip yet.

Gurman reports that:

“The new Mac mini is just one of several Macs coming in the coming months. Apple is preparing updated versions of the iMac and MacBook Pro with the m4 chip, expected to launch as early as this year. MacBook Air models are in development for spring 2025, and the Mac Pro and Mac Studio models are expected in the middle of next year.”

Based on Gurman’s reporting, here’s the expected timeline for the new Macs with M4 chips:

  • Fall 2024: MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini
  • Primavera 2025: MacBook Air
  • Mid 2025: Mac Studio e Mac Pro

Of these, the Mac mini is so far the only device expected to get a major redesign. However, Gurman suggested that other models could also see significant cosmetic changes along with the hardware refresh.
