(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 9 – Apple unveils the new iPhone 16 series “designed from scratch” for its artificial intelligence. The Cupertino company thus enters the heart of the discussion begun at the developers conference in June in which it launched Apple Intelligence and shows how its flagship product will change, which now sees, understands and explains everything to the user with detailed information. A necessary turning point to face competition, especially in China where sales of iPhones have dropped, but for the moment it is not clear when it will arrive in Europe where there are stringent rules of the Digital Market Acts. “The iPhone 16 are designed from scratch for Apple’s artificial intelligence that raises the bar, it is the beginning of a new era”, explains Apple CEO Tim Cook opening the event in Cupertino. The new iPhone 16 range consists of four models (base, Plus, Pro and Pro Max) with an improved photographic compartment, two new controls (Action button for quick operations and Camera button for video and photo functions), improved design and new colors. But the real novelty is the artificial intelligence functions, Apple Intelligence, which features the virtual assistant Siri that, enhanced by AI, is able to understand user requests, even when they are not formulated correctly. While the new button for controlling photos and videos activates a visual understanding function (Visual intelligence) similar to those implemented by Google with Lens. Managing the artificial intelligence functions of this new generation of iPhones is the A18 chip, created specifically, which speeds up all operations. The Apple Intelligence functions will arrive as an experimental version in the USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Africa and the United Kingdom from next month. It remains to be seen when they will arrive in Europe and also in Italy, since the Digital Markets Act (DMA) provides more stringent rules for the big names in technology. The new iPhones are available for pre-order starting this Friday with delivery on September 20, starting at 979 euros for the basic models, the top of the range ones from 1,239 euros. During the ‘It’s Glowtime’ event, Cupertino also presented the new “carbon neutral” Apple Watch Series 10 and new Air Pods earphones with a particular focus on noise cancellation and hearing protection.
