Apple may celebrate a decade with the Watch X next year

by time news

Apple is not expected to offer substantial changes in the design or features of the Apple Watch this year, but 2024 will mark the decade since the launch of the original Apple Watch and it seems that the company intends to celebrate this event with a series of rather interesting announcements.

According to reports, Apple plans to launch the Watch X next year, in a move similar to the iPhone X branding, which brought a rather dramatic design change to the company’s phone line. It will come with a significantly larger screen, 1.89 inches for the smaller model and 2.04 inches for the larger one. For comparison, Apple Watch Ultra, which is considered large compared to the other models, comes with a 1.92-inch screen.

Apple does not intend to launch a product that will make the expensive Ultra model suddenly look inferior, and it is also expected to be significantly upgraded. Watch Ultra 2 is rumored to have a 2.13-inch screen, with innovative microLED lighting. Watch X, on the other hand, will come with a standard OLED panel made by LG.

The switch to the microLED display, according to the reports, will also bring with it a significant increase in the price of the watch. The price may reach up to 1,199 dollars, when the existing Ultra model will continue to be sold alongside it at a slightly more accessible price. Some rumors even point to the possibility that Apple will announce all these models towards the end of 2023, but will actually launch them only next year.
