Apple May Equip AirPods with Hearing & Posture Improvement

by time news

Apple could equip AirPods wireless headphones with features to improve health, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing knowledgeable sources and company documents.

According to the publication, the future headset may be equipped with sensors that will measure body temperature and monitor posture, warning the user if he is slouching. Also, the developers are exploring the possibility of using headphones as a hearing aid. As the WSJ notes, engineers have not yet figured out how to implement these features in AirPods, so it is possible that they will never appear on sale.

Currently, Apple is preparing to release the latest generation of headphones – AirPods 3. Contrary to the expectations of observers, the company did not show them at its last presentation on September 14, which presented the new iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, Apple Watch Series 7, iPad mini and iPad. Earlier, DigiTimes reported that the third generation AirPods have already been launched into mass production and will go on sale before the end of this year.

They are expected to receive the biggest update since March 2019 and will support wireless charging, and their design will echo the more premium AirPods Pro. At the same time, in order to save money, the new headphones most likely will not receive the “spatial audio” function, as in the Pro version.
