Apple has introduced a new generation of MacBook Pro laptops with 14- and 16-inch screens. Both models received a new generation of proprietary M2 chips. Orders for new MacBook Pros with M2 chips are now open. A 14-inch laptop will cost $2,000 or more, a 16-inch laptop will start at $2,500.

MacBook Pro with M2 Pro features a 10- or 12-core CPU with eight high-performance and four high-performance cores for a 20% performance improvement over the M1 Pro. With up to 32GB of combined memory, the Neural Engine is up to 40% faster.

The MacBook Pro with M2 Max features a flagship 38-core GPU, up to 96GB of combined memory. M2 Max is equipped with a next-generation 12-core processor with eight high-performance and four high-performance cores, which provides up to 20% faster performance than M1 Max, and a more powerful media engine than M2 Pro, with twice the performance of ProRes .

The new MacBook Pros feature Wi-Fi 6E for faster wireless connectivity, as well as advanced HDMI connectivity with support for 8K displays up to 60Hz and 4K displays up to 240Hz. There are also three Thunderbolt 4 ports for high-speed connection to peripherals, an SDXC card slot, and MagSafe 3 charging.
