Earlier, a game emulator called iGBA: GBA & GBC Retro Emulator was launched on the App Store, allowing players to play retro games on iPhone and iPad for free. However, Apple removed iGBA from the shelves on Monday (15th), allegedly violating the App Store’s spam and copyright-related review guidelines.

iGBA: GBA & GBC Retro Emulator is the first game emulator application launched on the App Store since Apple announced support for emulation applications on April 5. iGBA allows iPhone users to play Game Boy games, including the “Pokémon” and “The Legend of Zelda” series, by loading free ROMs downloaded from the Internet. In addition, iGBA also supports functions such as saving states, fast forwarding, and tactile feedback. Even though its functions are not as good as Delta, it attracts many people to use it because it is easier to download and works well.

However, according to foreign media reports, iGBA is a copycat version of developer Riley Testut’s open source GBA4iOS application. Although iGBA quickly topped the App Store list after its release, many people complained on social networking sites that iGBA blatantly copied GBA4iOS. Riley Testut posted on Threads last Saturday (13th) that he did not authorize it to anyone, but the copycat version full of advertisements and tracking topped the rankings.
