Apple has no plans to release a proprietary generative AI chatbot for iPhone with iOS 18.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru, instead the company will use other people’s technologies, reports Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.

Instead of a proprietary chatbot, Apple is considering licensing other services such as Google Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. According to the journalist, the next operating system in the iPhone, iOS 18, will be equipped with artificial intelligence that will help users in their daily lives. How this will work has not yet been specified.

Generative AI was initially expected to improve the capabilities of the Siri voice assistant, making it “smarter.” AI is also expected to be integrated into pre-installed apps such as Apple Music, Shortcuts, Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

Tim Cook has promised in the past that the company would announce its own “AI later this year.” This is expected to happen as part of the WWDC 2024 developer conference, which will be held from March 10 to 14.
