It is expected that, in about a month, Apple will unveil its new range of mobile phones: the iPhone 16. However, the Cupertino-based company has not made any reference regarding what the next models will look like.

As is often the case with such highly anticipated products, leaks have not taken long to arrive and there are speculations and predictions regarding what iPhone fans should expect concerning the next generation of phones.

When will the iPhone 16 be presented?

According to the website Applesfera, which specializes in the brand, the different models of the iPhone 16 range will be presented in September 2024, although the article clarifies that there is no confirmation, nor will there be “until there are 7-10 days left for the official presentation.”

On the other hand, it notes that, regarding exact dates, everything points to September 10, 11, or 12. For this, brand experts base their predictions on Apple’s history, which has recently presented its new models in the second week of September and never on a Monday or a Friday. However, it is warned that as these dates approach, more concrete leaks will come to light.

However, the informational note mentions that it has become tradition in recent years for Apple to hold a special event to present it. It also explains that if the trend of recent years continues, it will be a pre-recorded event that, in any case, will not prevent the press from attending Apple Park to view it and test the new devices firsthand afterward.

An important thing to keep in mind is that presentation does not mean launch. Apple usually presents its new iPhones on a given week and launches pre-orders on the first Friday after that, having the final public launch the following Friday. In other words, about 10 days after their presentation.

What to expect from the iPhone 16?

It is known that each generation of iPhone includes not just one device but four or five models with different specifications and prices. Keeping this in mind and according to leaks collected by Applesfera, here’s what is expected:

  • iPhone 16, without any suffix: the standard model of the iPhone 16 will feature a 6.1-inch OLED display and a dual camera.
  • iPhone 16 Plus is expected to come with a 6.7-inch OLED panel and have a higher price than the iPhone 16, but with identical features inside (except for battery).
  • iPhone 16 Pro: the smaller model of the high-end iPhone 16 will increase its diagonal compared to the previous Pro models, featuring a 6.3-inch OLED panel.
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: according to Applesfera’s projections, this is expected to be the best iPhone in history. It will also have a larger diagonal compared to previous years, reaching 6.9 inches on its OLED panel. It will be the most expensive and, in terms of specifications, it is expected to be identical to the Pro, except for the battery. Optical zoom could be another difference from the Pro as it was in the iPhone 15 generation, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The Applesfera article questions whether there will be an iPhone 16 Ultra, as has been the case in previous editions.

What is known about the design?

Images leaked of the alleged iPhone 16 were uploaded to the internet by Twitter user Sonny Dickson.

Regarding the specific phones, the Applesfera article projects: “We expect the iPhone 16 to inherit the design of the iPhone 15. We think its rear edge could be a little more rounded. The iPhone 15 has shifted toward that slightly more comfortable line, and thanks to the titanium, is lighter, which altogether makes for a more comfortable phone to hold.”

Similarly, the iPhone 16 is expected to have a titanium frame, given that the iPhone 15 Pro already features this. Similarly, the Apple-focused media expects this design to include the haptic buttons that were canceled in the iPhone 15 and maintain the USB-C connector that was already introduced in the previous generation.
