Apple Silicon: New Mac Mini and 16-inch MacBook Pro to Feature Powerful M3 Chip with Enhanced CPU and GPU Cores

by time news

Apple’s upcoming hardware refresh cycle is set to begin with the launch of new MacBooks (Pro and Air), as well as Mac Mini and iMac desktops, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Gurman recently revealed that the high-end 16-inch MacBook Pro will feature the new M3 Max chip, which contains 16 CPU cores and 40 GPU cores, along with up to 48GB of memory.

The M3 Max chip has been spotted in testing and is expected to offer increased processing power compared to previous models. Test logs from a third-party app developer suggest that the chip will have 12 high-performance CPU cores and four efficiency cores, allowing for improved performance in tasks such as video editing and Excel processing while maintaining similar battery life.

While the exact launch dates for these new devices have not been confirmed, Gurman speculates that the update to the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models could happen in 2024. The Mac Mini and iMac desktops are set to launch over the next year starting in October.

This hardware refresh cycle from Apple comes after the introduction of the new Mac Pro, which, although less exciting than anticipated, marks an important milestone for the company’s transition to Apple Silicon. Apple has been gradually replacing Intel processors with its own custom-designed chips, offering improved performance and power efficiency.

As summer comes to an end, Apple enthusiasts eagerly await the launch of these new devices, which are expected to push the boundaries of performance and innovation. With the inclusion of the M3 Max chip in the 16-inch MacBook Pro, users can anticipate significant improvements in processing power and graphics capabilities, providing a more seamless user experience for demanding tasks.
