According to the results of the fourth quarter of 2021, Apple became the leader in the Chinese smartphone market, follows from the report of the analytical company Counterpoint. The American corporation has not been able to take the first place in the Chinese market over the past six years.

At the same time, Apple achieved a record-breaking 23% share in the Chinese market in the quarter. “Apple climbed to number one in China immediately after the release of the iPhone 13 in September. It subsequently remained in the lead for most of the fourth quarter. The new iPhone 13 succeeded thanks to a relatively lower starting price when it was released in China, as well as a new camera and 5G features. In addition, Huawei, Apple’s main competitor in the premium market, is facing a decline in sales due to ongoing US sanctions,” explains Menmeng Zhang, an analyst at Counterpoint.

The former sales leaders in China – Vivo and Oppo – took 19% and 17% of the market in the quarter.

Earlier, the research company Canalys reported that Apple, according to preliminary data, became the leader in sales worldwide in the fourth quarter, surpassing Samsung. In the global market, Apple’s share rose to 22%, while the share of the South Korean manufacturer was 20%. The third manufacturer in the world, according to Canalys, remains Xiaomi with 12% of the market.
