Apple announced on Monday (September 9) the release date for iOS 18. The new version of the mobile operating system will be launched on September 16, at the beginning of next week.
The new features of iOS 18 have been unveiled since June of this year, when Apple began testing the system among developers. The operating system introduces a myriad of new features, including the new Apple Intelligence tools platform powered by artificial intelligence.
However, the new features don’t stop there: iOS 18 includes more customization options, such as the ability to pin icons anywhere on the screen and themed shortcut colors. Additionally, the Control Center has received a major makeover, now featuring media control options, shortcut group creation, and multiple pages.

Within the system, there are also exclusive features of the “Camera Control,” the new capacitive button on the side. This component provides access to the main functions of the phone’s cameras.
It is worth noting, however, that the bundle of new features powered by Apple Intelligence will only start to appear on the iPhone with iOS 18.1. The first update of the operating system is scheduled for release in October of this year.
How to download iOS 18?
The new iOS 18 is being gradually distributed to all users—and Apple usually does not take long to roll out the package worldwide. If you have a compatible phone but have not yet been notified to download the update, follow these steps:
- Go to “Settings”;
- Select the “General” section;
- Choose “Software Update” and perform a manual scan;
- If the update appears, tap “Install Now” and wait for the download to complete.
The process requires you to restart your phone, so be sure to start the installation only when you can leave the device aside for a few minutes.
