It’s not exactly a surprise: the presentation of the new iPhone this Monday does not anticipate the new artificial intelligence (AI) features from Apple for European Portuguese or Brazilian Portuguese. Apple Intelligence will be available next month in English, with the promise of adding Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and French sometime in 2025.
As has been common in the industry, new features will be gradually rolled out with the evolution of the iOS 18 operating system, the first version of which is expected to be available next week — starting from the iPhone Xr.
In summary, Apple’s marketing machine once again highlights its artificial intelligence — introduced in June as Apple Intelligence — with writing and image editing assistants. The new iPhone 16 “marks the beginning of a new era,” says Tim Cook, because it is the first to support Apple’s AI system at its core — the 15 Pro model is the only older model that can run these features, meaning that the iPhone 15 and earlier models are excluded from the AI capabilities. The new A18 (in the iPhone 16) and A18 Pro (in the iPhone 16 Pro) processors already support these AI features.
Aesthetically, the iPhone 16 (starting at 989 euros) is identical to the iPhone 15, but it has gained an exclusive button for the camera, which sees some improvements in the 16 with the addition of a macro photography mode. The base model comes in two sizes, with new finishes and a new orientation of the two cameras, capable of capturing images for the Vision Pro glasses.
The “action button”, which allows activating some functions with a click, will now be available on all models. The iPhone 16 and 16 Pro also gain a new dedicated camera button.

The iPhone 16 Pro (starting at 1249 euros) and Pro Max will continue to be the most equipped models, with a titanium body and four colors. With slightly larger screens, measuring 6.3 and 6.9 inches respectively, they see improved cameras, with the ultra-wide camera increasing to 48 MP. They will also incorporate four microphones capable of recording immersive audio.
New Watch and Headphones
The pre-recorded presentation in California began by announcing the new Apple Watch 10 (starting at 459 euros). The watch has the usual shape but is thinner (9.7 mm), with options in black and gold aluminum. The OLED screen is slightly larger and brighter than previous versions, with improved reading at side angles. A new titanium case (available in three colors) winks at the wealthier (prices starting at 809 euros).
The watches are equipped with a new S10 processor, better suited to improve, for example, call quality. The brand also emphasizes features related to monitoring health parameters, with a new app that detects sleep apnea.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 has not been renewed but is now available in black.
Improvements were also announced for the AirPods Pro 2 (launched last year), such as the system for protecting against loud noise, a test to detect hearing loss, and increased sensitivity for people with hearing limitations. The new AirPods 4 (149 euros) arrive with a promise of better sound quality and noise cancellation options (199 euros), a feature previously only available on the Pro model. The AirPods Max, introduced four years ago, will be available in new colors and with USB-C charging.
All of the Apple devices announced today will be available for sale in all markets starting September 20. More details on the official page.
