The Vision Pro is significantly more expensive than competing devices from Facebook Group Meta or HTC. However, users of Apple glasses should benefit from the complex technology inside and the interaction with other devices from the company.
The Vision Pro has displays in front of its eyes – like VR glasses to display virtual reality. Cameras record and transmit the real environment to these screens.
It’s unclear how many Vision Pro devices Apple has sold since the US market launch in early February. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple expects to sell 400,000 to 450,000 headsets this year.
Cinema on the head and spatial videos
The Vision Pro can put large virtual displays in front of your eyes. For example, you can watch movies as if they were on a screen – or use some artificial screens to work. Apple Macbook notebooks can be connected wirelessly to the glasses so that they take over the role of the display while you can still use the computer’s keyboard and trackpad.
Both displays in front of your eyes have a higher resolution than a 4K TV. This means that the Vision Pro can deliver detailed images – and does not have the “flying screen pattern” of previous VR glasses, in which individual pixels were visible.
Apple also uses the technology to show spatial videos that seem much more realistic than the 3D effect known from the cinema. The group developed its own cameras for professional recordings in this format – sports, among other things, offer completely new perspectives. With iPhone 15 Pro, consumers can also record spatial videos that can be used later to relive memories in the Vision Pro. For private use, this is probably one of the most interesting functions./so/DP/stk
