Apple Watch Series 10 (Watch X) to Receive Major Redesign in 2024 or 2025

In an exciting announcement, Apple is set to release the 10th edition of the Apple Watch, aptly named “Watch X,” in 2024 or 2025. The new wearable will mark a significant redesign for the popular smartwatch, potentially offering a thinner watch case and a new method for attaching bands to the device.

Over the years, Apple Watch updates have been relatively minor, with incremental changes such as slightly bigger screens, faster processors, and new health tracking features. However, the upcoming Apple Watch Series 9, set to be released next month, will follow this trend, offering minimal upgrades.

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman revealed that Apple executives have contemplated moving away from the annual upgrade cycle for the Apple Watch due to the lack of attention-grabbing features with each update. Despite this, the cycle will continue for now.

For the Watch X, Apple plans to introduce a thinner watch case and explore a new method for attaching bands magnetically. Currently, the sliding-and-locking mechanism takes up valuable space that could be utilized for more battery capacity or other components. However, the change in the band attachment system may result in compatibility issues with older bands.

While the discontinuation of support for older bands may seem like a drawback at first glance, there are expected benefits for users, such as increased space or a more flexible design, according to those involved in the development of the new watch models.

Additionally, Apple is reportedly working on incorporating a microLED display in a future Apple Watch model. This state-of-the-art technology offers several advantages over the current OLED display and could be one of the first mass-market applications of microLED for consumers.

As the Watch X will commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Apple Watch, it could either launch in 2024 (anniversary of the initial announcement) or 2025 (anniversary of the first release). If Apple adheres to the annual release cycle and the Watch X hits the market in 2025, it will not be the actual 10th edition, as the Roman numeral X might suggest. However, Apple’s past product names, like the iPhone X, have proven that they are not confined to mathematical common sense.

Stay tuned for more updates on the highly anticipated Apple Watch Series 10 (Watch X) and its revolutionary features.
